Rediscovering Europe: the new generation of Chinese tourists
Our series of meetings continues to offer an analysis of the most relevant scenarios, opportunities, and trends in the Chinese market. Our next guest is Cristiano Varotti, ENIT – Italian National Tourist Board China Country Manager.
The focus of the third appointment will be on tourism, with a preview of the new In:China Monitor, a targeted report on the market offering insights based on first-hand data from China. This allows brands to compare their sector performance with updated local indicators.
The sixth In:China Monitor will delve into the role that Chinese tourists will play in the global travel sector in 2023.
We are pleased to announce the third guest for In:China Talks: Cristiano Varotti, ENIT – Italian National Tourist Board China Country Manager. The webinar titled “Rediscovering Europe: the new generation of Chinese tourists” is open to all and is part of a series of meetings aimed at providing the tools for a better understanding of the country of the Dragon.
The meeting will be moderated – directly from Shanghai – by Stefano Generali, Managing Director of Intarget China: “In this new In:China Talks, we will analyze the new context that has emerged following China’s opening of tourism. In the country, planning is beginning again, and with pent-up demand and over 17 trillion dollars in cash, Chinese consumers are expected to have a significant impact on the global travel sector in 2023. All online travel agencies are experiencing a surge in searches on their platforms, and new trends have emerged. From luxury glamping to solo travel, contrasting with the standard image of Chinese tourists traveling in groups to visit art cities. We will be joined by Cristiano Varotti, ENIT – Italian National Tourist Board China Country Manager, who will offer reflections and insights on what to expect from the resumption, albeit not immediate, of the flow of tourists from China to Europe. In light of the return and new travel styles, we want to discuss how Italy, tourism companies, and accommodation facilities can tap into this flow.”
Cristiano Varotti currently holds the position of China Country Manager at ENIT – Italian National Tourist Board and has previously served as Correspondent of the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou for the Province of Hunan (Changsha), International Representative of the Foreign Affairs Office of Hunan Province (since 2014), and Director of the Marche Region Office in China (2012 – 2019).
